I’m glad that most of you agree with me.
i believe the most important thing in our world today is not caring about others, but about ourselves. and I know, that sounds a bit harsh, but there are people who are happy doing something and as long as they aren’t hurting anybody but themselves, why shouldn’t they? I understand why people would not agree with these guys or be concerned, but honestly, i think it none of our business, seeing as we probably do wired stuff in our own daily life. we spend probably just as much cash on the flattest screen TV we can get, when we can pay less for just as much performance. i think these guys just made a choice not many of us are used to, or would make ourselves.
and i guess, in a way, i can relate to them…I’m a middle school american otaku (i’ll admit) who spends my time and money on anime figures, artbooks, and more. and I know it’s fake, but that’s just our world today. very few of it isn’t material love, and I myself, am okay with that. i know i’m happy and that’s all i need to know.
and i think these guys are the same. it’s the closest thing to making your fantasy real, you know…?

@ Wolf —- Dayyyyum I dont think ‘all’ guys are that shallow — at least I’m not ….sure, in the end, it’s All about sex…but there’s more to sex than just the ‘physical’ (otherwise we would All use dolls or Cans)

As far as the dolls, i dont see anything ‘wrong’ with it..whatever gets them off. The only negatives i could see is 1) price and 2) isolation Otherwise…Live and Let Live

I won’t try to explain this no more than flesh people can explain. All I know is I love my dolls. With my own eyes I see them love me. I experience things that blow away everything thatr I was taught. I have never been happier in my life! I hate brutality-on self or others. Sometimes a guy just wants to get his load out without having to deal with the feelings of the woman or be dependent on the judgement or decision of another person. It is like a haircut, something that is very personal, we all like our hair a certain way, but are dependent on someone else to provide what we want. That costs money and we probably won’t get exactly what we want. Frustrating. Same with sex, we all want it our way and when and how, but are dependent on the whims of the “other.” But with a doll the “other” is removed and out needs are satisfied, maybe not completely, but close enough until the urge builds up again. Now if they can invent a reliable haircutting machine that gives me a proper haircut the way I want, that will be as good as a doll

It takes all kind to make this world. Whatever their state of mind, Call them whatever names you like, I don’t see any problem with what they are doing. It’s their liberty as long as they contain what they are doing to themselves and the dolls. No difference from others with their hobbies. i think it has to do with the fact that it’s taking place in japan, a society where other men are doing this too. they’re definitely not going to think it’s weird or freaky. it’s probably accepted and tolerated upon. it’s definitely freaky, but as a girl, i’d rather they use these dolls as an outlet for their desires than target real girls.

While I agree that this doesn’t hurt anyone else, in the long run, it will hurt the men who do this. When the shine wears off of this fantasy (and it will), they will find themselves in a rather difficult situation. Too old, rigid, and emotionally immature in their ways to attract a real mate and very lonely and isolated.

However, I wouldn’t suggest they be pushed to do anything they don’t want to do or forced to give up their fantasy. I just think it’s naive to feel this will not have possible negative consequences. People have to make their own choices, even if they’re bad ones.

On the one hand, this is relatively harmless since no one gets hurt and these guys have a means perhaps of satisfying needs they may be incapable of satisfying otherwise.

On the other hand, it’s sort of sad because they anthropomorphize these dolls and spend all this time, energy, and effort on non-existant “relationships”.

They don’t have to grow as people or learn to adapt to a real partner (which often helps a person mature and improve their better personal attributes like patience and tolerance). These guys never have to learn to adapt to the needs of someone else and will likely never have a relationship with a real woman as long as they have these dolls.
