When dining on delectables doled out in dishes, it’s sometimes nice to sit in suitably styled seats.

Allowing one to boast,

although it’s a bit of a mouthful,

about eating from a bowl in a booth that’s a bowl.

Tokyo Times is owned and run by me, Lee Chapman, a long-term resident of Tokyo who arrived in 1998 for ‘a year or two’, and, for a myriad of reasons, stayed put.
Japan means many things to many people, but Tokyo Times is how I see it. The places. The people. The day-to-day situations. All of it shot using a Leica, a Nikon and a selection of lenses.
My photographs have appeared in the Guardian and Japan Times, plus numerous magazines and books. Should you wish to use any, or simply ask a question, you can get in touch with me here.

You can at least tell us where it is.
It’s in Tachikawa in western Tokyo phauna, although I can’t remember what it’s called.
Not that it helps with the name, but I’m pretty sure it’s part of a chain too.
The name would help actually. Do you have a way of finding any details at all?
It’s called “Issun-boushi” in a sort of restaurant complex (I think) called OTOGIBANASHI TACHIKAWA run by a company called Diamond Dining.
Yeah, that’s the place name lalalemon. There’s a couple of links here with info and maps.

That is cool! What’s the food like?
Lee, were these shots handheld as usual? Definitely impressive if so. Nice composition and creative idea for a photo set either way. I like shots featuring black and red.
Cheers Jason. Yeah, they were handheld, although as the place had just opened, there were hardly any people about and I had time to steady myself.
