Building abomination?

by Lee on 4/7/2009

Due to Tokyo boasting more shops than even the most committed consumer could care for, pulling in the punters is paramount, with most retailers, particularly in the current economic climate, deeming it desirable to have a wonderfully designed window display or at least a super sounding sale of some sort.

Yet that said, one or two proprietors are apparently not interested in such subtleties, and instead are happy to simply paint their emporium with a dinosaur-based abomination and have done with it.

One man’s abomination is another man’s photo opportunity…as you so clearly demonstrate! I love photographing oddball architecture in Japan, so I’m definitely appreciative of this shot!

Very nice find Lee. I think the architecture and painting work.

Where is this place?

That’s not a dinosaur, that’s Godzilla!

Thanks!

Oh, and it’s on Kappabashi-dori Jason. A street where restaurant owners can buy everything they need — and then some. There are more pictures of the place here
