Sensationally silly sidecar?

by Lee on 5/7/2009

Or rather than silly, is it possibly the cutest drum-cum-Thomas The Tank Engine-cum-sidecar the world, or at least western Tokyo, has ever seen?

Actually given he is green and has the number “3″ on the side, that makes him Henry, not Thomas.

Lee,

i started following (and back peddling) your blog recently. excellent stuff sir. when i ‘check my vitals’ on the web each morning your site has become part of the standard rotation.

this photograph make me laugh really hard since it struck a joyous chord in my heart.

i was in tokyo about a year ago, and whilst there made the short hike over to the Mt. Fuji & surrounding lakes area.

i kid you not that i saw public buses, cabbies and rail cars adorned with Thomas the Tank Engine motifs….BIG motifs. i thought may have been an isolated incident or a pocket of die hard Thomas fans occupying public office….but as your photo suggests…the motorcyclists were behind it all.

Thanks Adam.

Yeah, I don’t know what it is with Thomas, but he’s very popular to say the least. I’ve seen plenty of the buses and the odd train, but I’ve yet to have the pleasure of seeing a Thomas taxi!
