Women-only carriages seem to be here to stay, and after their initial introduction during rush hour in Tokyo, more train operators have jumped on the single-sex bandwagon.
The women-only promotional poster below shows just how stress-free and quiet early morning commutes can be. As there’s plenty of room to move around, read a book, or simply smile serenely at the wonders of the world.

Poor old salary man Suzuki however is still having a torrid old time.
There's also the option of following Tokyo Times by full feed RSS, and now Twitter too.

I read recently that the men are complaining about the women’s only train cars because now the regular train cars are more crowded.
Oh, cry me a river.
I know that not all Japanese men are groping perverts, but if only more of them made a greater effort to understand that HEY! Molesting women and girls is a BAD THING, they wouldn’t be in this predicament.
Besides, I bet some of the complaints are coming from chikans themselves since they have less women to attack now.
Sardines in a tin.
they don’t look very japanese. looks more like a page from the “Madeleine” book series…
It gets a bit ridiculous sometimes, doesn’t it.
Last time I was living here, I had to catch the Toukaidou-sen every morning to work from Yokohama into Tokyo. One day, right in the middle of summer, the train decided that it wanted to stop between stations, and I was delayed there for an hour. I went through 7 stages of insanity that day… good times, good times…
hilarious! haha. keep up the good work… i think you’re doing a fabulous job with the site
Oh salary man Suzuki! Will you ever win?
Well the basic idea isn’t the ideal solution to the problem of molesting ( after all the seperation of man and woman doesn’t look good) but until a better one arrives I will have to say that it is by far the best solution to be enfourced I have seen
Oh my God! Why don’t you wait for next train.
