Japanese public (and well prepared) sleeping

The ability of many Japanese to sleep practically anywhere, and at anytime, never ceases to amaze me. Standing up. Sitting down. Unceremoniously slumped. No situation seems capable of getting in the way of forty winks.

And it’s the same with this fella. The only difference being that although public.

He was prepared.

  1. When you got to go, you got to go… go to sleep, that is.

    • It certainly seems that way. My amazement is only equalled by my jealousy, as it must be lovely to be able to sleep whenever and wherever one wants.

  2. No doubt he does this every working day! Great capture, another piece of the puzzle that is Japan :-)

    • Cheers.

Yes, it certainly seemed that way. And totally agree. Often quite a big piece of the puzzle too.

  3. Jeffrey says:

Last company I worked for there sold imported building materials. It didn’t matter if I was out with the guys in the yard or making rounds with a member of the sales staff to job sites, the post-lunch siesta was observed. But no fifteen minute “power naps” for these guys. They’d stretch the lunch break into an hour with the nap.

    • That doesn’t surprise me. Not in the slightest.

Were you able to do the same, or were you left to your own devices while they slept?

      • Jeffrey says:

Left to my own devices, which meant I usually just stood around or read something. I take a nap in the middle of the day and I’m useless (okay more useless) for the rest of the afternoon.

        • Thought that might have been the case. Left to your own devices that is, not being useless for the rest of the afternoon!
