Tokyo’s past, present and future all in one photo?

Tokyo Times is owned and run by me, Lee Chapman, a long-term resident of Tokyo who arrived in 1998 for ‘a year or two’, and, for a myriad of reasons, stayed put.
Japan means many things to many people, but Tokyo Times is how I see it. The places. The people. The day-to-day situations. All of it shot using a Leica, a Nikon and a selection of lenses.
My photographs have appeared in the Guardian and Japan Times, plus numerous magazines and books. Should you wish to use any, or simply ask a question, you can get in touch with me here.

Hmm… Certain parts of Tokyo maybe… But the city as a whole… No.
That’s a fair point. Areas like the one above haven’t changed for years, but other parts of the city must be unrecognisable to those who lived there years ago.
You do make me miss Japan. Seems almost funny to say from the picture you have but after having been away for some time (~15 years), I miss the crowded alleys with women who look like my Obaachan, going to places, I’m sure they spent 30 min. getting ready for
Cheers
You are more than welcome. Happy to hear my photos bring back memories.
Hi, ok for past and present, but future?
Where in this (beautiful) picture?
Roberto.
Future in regards the ageing population.
It’s in east Tokyo. Fairly near Hikifune station. A fascinating area.
Ah, I knew this looked familiar! I live right across the river from Hikifune. My side of the river looks exactly like this too.
