Farmers in Zentsuji, Kagawa Prefecture, are once again in novelty nirvana, as the their yearly shipment of overly-priced and unusually-shaped watermelons has just kicked off. Making it a momentous day for Japan’s fancy fruit lovers, with masses of mutated melon maniacs already clearing out suitable spaces for this allegedly freezer-friendly fruit.

Actually, these melons look much more convenient for shippers and stores. Being square in shape, they are much more efficient in terms of space.
I can’t believe you’re able to freeze melons. Baps yes, but not melons.
The cost of fruit in Japan is ridiculous!
I have seen melons priced at ¥10,000.
