Tokyo summer festival soaking

People pouring buckets of ice water over themselves for charity may well be a thing at the moment, but at the Fukagawa Hachiman Matsuri in Tokyo, they have been doing something very similar for much, much longer. A simple bit of festival fun that many look forward to. Even getting all dressed up just to get a good soaking.

And as such, it’s enjoyed by people of all ages, although sulking little lads are sometimes an exception.

Yes, those involved were having a blast. On a hot and humid day, a drenching must have felt lovely. Needless to say I was envious, but with camera in hand, standing where I diid was as near as I dared get.

Certainly looks like it! The festival has a lovely atmosphere, doesn’t it?

I wasn’t sure what to expect, but was a bit alarmed when I saw loads of people with their cameras covered in plastic for protection. A wise move!

Lovely, indedd, but dangerous for the camera if you go unprepared -which was also my case ;)
Anyway, it’s brought me back good memories of those holidays in Japan.

I’m a fan of your pics. Keep on with the good job ;)
